Welcome to the Cathedral! |
|
The members of the Cathedral Parish welcome you! Established in 1809 as "The Third Episcopal Church" by several plantation families and, therefore, also known as the "Planters' Church", this parish became the Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul in 1963. Our mission as the "seat" of the Bishop of South Carolina is to witness to the historic Christian faith, true to the Anglican tradition, in the Diocese, in the civic and arts communities of Charleston, at The Citadel through St. Alban's Chapel and Chaplaincy, at the College of Charleston through InterVarsity Fellowship, and through international mission by the Port and Seafarers' Society as well as our companion Diocese of the Dominican Republic. We offer this witness in worship, education, and outreach, both spiritual and practical, embodied in the members of the Body of Christ formed by the Holy Spirit amongst us. For the current Diocesan Cathedral Profile, see Headlines at left. If you would like more information about the Cathedral, or in particular about how to support the Save the Cathedral Campaign, please click Renovation Project in the left menu bar, call us at (843) 722-7345 or drop us an e-mail at
